Drury - A method where responder rebids 2C
after an initial pass to explore game when one partner
opens a major suit in third (perhaps fourth) seat possibly with light values
and other partner is holding game invitational values.  Due to its popularity, several variations of
the Drury convention are in use:

        | Standard Drury |
        | Auction | Meaning |
        |   P - (P) - 1H/S - (P);2C - (P) -
 | 2C is artificial,
showing 10-12 points and 3+ trump support. The bid asks partner, who
opened with a major in third-seat partner, to respond according to the
        following conventional agreement: |
        | Opener Rebids |
        | 2 Diamonds | Warns inviting partner that
third seat opener was made with sub-opening values, asking partner to
make a signoff bid in two of partner's major suit unless responder has
        extraordinary values. |
        | 2 Hearts/Spades | Provides partner a positive
response that third seat opener was based on a true opening hand,
advising partner to pick the best game contract. |

        | Reverse Drury
        - An extension to Drury.  While responder's 2 Club bid still shows 10-11 points,
opener's rebids are reversed from traditional Drury; using Reverse
Drury, rebidding 2 of opener's major suit shows a weak hand (fast
denies, slow shows).  Of course, opener can rebid game or make
another strong action to show opening values.  Partnership
agreements are needed to define opener's 2D rebid, seemingly
showing an opening hand but needing further information from passed hand
responder.  Reverse Drury is consistent with other "fast arrival"
methods ("slow shows, fast denies" values). |
        | Auction | Meaning |
        |    P - (P) - 1H/S - (P);2C - (P) -
 | Same as Standard Drury |
        | Opener Rebids |
        | 2 Hearts/Spades (rebidding Major suit)
 | Warns
inviting partner that third seat opener was made with sub-opening
values, asking partner to make a signoff bid in two of partner's major
        suit. |
        | 2 Diamonds ("Slow Shows" values)
 | Provides partner a positive
response that third seat opener was based on a true opening hand,
advising partner to pick the best game contract.
         Note: some prefer to
reserve this treatment to advise responder game is still questionable,
perhaps opening with a 4 card major or wasted values (many Queens and
        Jacks) |

        | Two Way
        Reverse Drury ("Bergen" Drury) |
        | Auction | Meaning |
        |    P - (P) - 1H/S - (P);2C - (P) -
 | 2C is artificial,
showing 10-12 points and exactly 3 card trump support. The bid asks partner, who
opened with a major in third-seat partner, to respond according to the
        following conventional agreement: |
        |    P - (P) - 1H/S - (P);2D - (P) -
 | 2D is artificial, showing 10-12
points and 4+ trump support. The bid asks partner, who
opened with a major in third-seat partner, to respond according to the
        following conventional agreement: |
        | Opener Rebids |
        | 2 Hearts/Spades | Warns
inviting partner that third seat opener was made with sub-opening
values, asking partner to make a signoff bid in two of partner's major
        suit. |
        | 2 Diamonds ("Slow Shows" values)
 | Provides partner a positive
response that third seat opener was based on a true opening hand,
advising partner to pick the best game contract. | Note:
Several Drury rebid variations are used by some partnership, including game
and slam try methods, splinter methods, etc.  Partnerships should also
consider Drury methods when opening in fourth seat, as well as overcalls by
    Left Hand Opponent.
     Experience
(disaster) has shown special discussion is required on this auction when
    playing Two Way Reverse Drury:
  P - 1H/S;2C - 2D          What is 2D?
Some play a full opener with no game interest.
Maybe opener is advising responder game is still questionable,
perhaps opening with a 4 card major or wasted values
 (many Queens and Jacks)
