Three Level Response To 1 No Trump - Many methods have been developed
in response to opener's 1 Notrump bid.  Here are some of the common
    conventional 3 level responses:

        | Convention | Meaning |
        | Strong | A game forcing, slam
invitation bid promising a long, strong suit. 1N
        - 3C
 |
        | Weak | A preemptive bid, showing a
long broken suit typically only holding broken entries in the minor
        suits. 1N - 3D
 |
        | Distributional | Showing either a forcing or
invitational game in the major suits. 1N - 3H
        Shows a 5-5 invitational hand 1N - 3S
        Shows a 5-5 forcing hand
 |
        | Splinter | A game forcing bid showing
a singleton or void in the bid suit and promising long minors, allowing
opener to consider a minor suit game without the appropriate stopper in
        the splinter suit. 1N -
3S;  3S is a short suit since opener did not make a 3N bid,4C - 5C;  with the players finding a minor suit game

        | Puppet | An alternative treatment
(to 2C), where Responder shows game-going values and asks Opener to
        identify either a 5 or 4 card major. |
